These horizontal text emoticons are the original type of text art that started the whole crazy emoticon revolution! These are to be viewed sideways to interpret them. All Eastern Emoticons and especially Japanese emoticons are categorized under the Japanese/Vertical section for the obvious reason that they are viewed at a normal angle as opposed to these Western style emoticons and smileys which must be read or viewed while holding your head sideways.
